International cooperation
Montenegro Red Cross was founded in 1875, as one of the oldest Red Cross organizations in the world, and regained its status of independent National Society in November 20th 2007, during the General Assembly meeting in Geneva, when it was officially recognized as full member of the International Federation of Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies.
 
After completing the membership in the humanitarian family, Montenegro Red Cross is intensively working on improvement and development of cooperation with other Red Cross/Red Crescent National Societies and international organizations, in order to improve its activities and strengthen its position in the territory of Balkans and Europe.
 
International cooperation represents very important part of the organization and it is interwoven in every activity. It improves the capacities of the National Society for the efficient fulfillment of humanitarian mission and providing support for the most vulnerable population.
 
Besides very good bilateral and multilateral cooperation and contacts with Red Cross/Red Crescent National Societies from the region, Montenegro red Cross is cooperating with numerous diplomatic-consular offices in Montenegro, as well as with international organizations, in and out of the country (UNHCR, UNICEF, UNDP, USAID, WHO, IOM).
 
As part of the International Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement, Montenegro Red Cross has very good cooperation with the International Federation of Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies and International Committee of the Red Cross.
 
Montenegro Red Cross is involved in the work of many associations of European National Societies, which deal with specific area of Red Cross/Red Crescent work, where they monitor new directions and achievements, such as ERNA (European Red Cross/Red Crescent Network on HIV/AIDS & TB).
 
Montenegro Red Cross is also active member of the Centre for the cooperation in the Mediterranean.
 
From 2008, Montenegro Red Cross is a full member of ILSE (International Life Saving Federation – Europe).
 
Representatives of Montenegro Red Cross are regularly attending international meetings and events, which contributes to the establishment of cooperation, especially between youth, and at the same time, it improves the image of Montenegro Red Cross as one of the oldest Red Cross organizations in the Balkans. Also, Montenegro Red Cross hosts numerous international events, promoting in that way, exchange of experience and improvement of cooperation.
